FAQ's
1. I’ve done a program before, can we pick up where we left off?
Yes, absolutely! At Palabras y Pasos, we tailor our programs to your current Spanish level and goals. If you’ve participated in one of our programs before, we’ll review your previous progress during the pre-travel Zoom classes to assess your skills and customize your immersion experience. Whether you want to refine conversational skills, focus on professional vocabulary, or dive deeper into cultural nuances, we’ll pick up right where you left off to ensure seamless progress.
2. My spouse isn’t as interested in learning Spanish but wants to come, is that okay?
Of course! We welcome spouses or partners who want to join the adventure, even if Spanish learning isn’t their focus. They can participate in the guided cultural tours, culinary experiences, and city explorations in Roma and Condesa, enjoying Mexico City’s vibrant atmosphere. If they prefer, they can relax at our upscale accommodations or explore independently while you attend language classes. We’ll ensure they feel included and have a memorable experience.
3. Do you have packages that include the cost of flights and hotels?
We have packages that include upscale accommodations in the safe, stylish neighborhoods of Roma and Condesa, all training materials, expert instruction, and guided cultural tours. We have packages that don't include hotels for those that want to manage that themselves. While flights are not included to allow flexibility in your travel plans, our specially trained and licensed travel staff are here to make your journey effortless. They assist with booking flights, arranging airport transfers, and planning any additional experiences you’d like during your stay in Mexico City. Whether you’re dreaming of pre- or post-travel adventures to destinations like Oaxaca, Cancún, Puerto Vallarta or beyond, our team customizes every detail to suit your needs. Contact us to explore package options and let us handle the logistics for a seamless experience!
4. Does the class include the hotels?
Our Spanish immersion programs offer flexible options: you can choose packages that include upscale accommodations in the stylish and safe neighborhoods of Roma and Condesa, as well as packages where hotels are not included. When accommodations are part of your package, you’ll enjoy modern, comfortable lodgings conveniently located near our class and tour locations, serving as the perfect home base for your Mexico City experience. All selected hotels prioritize safety, comfort, and easy access to the city’s cultural highlights.
5. What about meals?
To maximize your cultural immersion, meals are not included in the program cost, giving you the freedom to explore Mexico City’s world-class culinary scene at your own pace. Our guided tours, like the culinary adventure through sidewalk stands, cantinas, and renowned restaurants, offer opportunities to savor authentic flavors while practicing your Spanish. Morning classes at local cafés often include a chance to enjoy breakfast in a vibrant setting, and our team provides personalized dining recommendations in the trendy Roma and Condesa neighborhoods to suit your tastes and budget. You’ll love discovering Mexico’s cuisine as part of your language journey!
6. Is it safe to be in Mexico City?
Mexico City is safe for travelers when you stick to well-traveled areas and follow basic precautions that you would in any large city, which is why we base our programs in the secure, trendy neighborhoods of Roma and Condesa. Our expert tutors and guides accompany you during all activities, ensuring you feel confident and safe. We also teach practical Spanish phrases for navigating the city safely during our pre-travel Zoom classes and daily lessons, so you’re well-prepared to explore with ease. After coming on one of our adventures, you will be very comfortable spending time on your own in future trips to Mexico City.
7. Are there family options for us and our kids?
Yes, we offer family-friendly immersion programs! We can customize experiences for families with children, combining Spanish lessons for adults and age-appropriate activities for kids. These may include cultural tours, visits to kid-friendly museums, or interactive workshops in Roma and Condesa. During pre-travel Zoom classes, we’ll assess everyone’s goals and create a program that balances language learning with fun, family-oriented adventures. Contact us to design your family’s perfect trip!
8. Are there teen programs?
Absolutely! Our teen programs are designed to engage young learners through interactive Spanish lessons and exciting cultural activities. Teens will learn practical Spanish in dynamic settings—like cafés or rooftop gardens—and practice their skills on guided tours, such as market visits or museum explorations. We focus on topics relevant to teens, like navigating the city or ordering food, while keeping the experience fun and immersive. Small group sizes ensure personalized attention, and all activities take place in safe areas like Roma and Condesa.
9. Where will my classes be?
Your classes will take place in unique, inspiring locations in the Roma and Condesa neighborhoods. Morning sessions may be held at a local café while enjoying breakfast, in a serene rooftop garden, or in one of our modern training rooms. These settings create a relaxed yet focused atmosphere for learning. Afternoon guided tours take you to cultural landmarks, markets, or restaurants across Mexico City, where you’ll practice your Spanish in real-world settings.
10. What do I have to be ready for on the first day?
On the first day, come prepared to dive into your Spanish immersion with enthusiasm! You’ll need to bring any pre-travel homework completed during your Zoom classes, a notebook, and a willingness to engage. We’ll start with a morning classroom session (at a café, rooftop garden, or training room) to review basics and set the day’s goals. Wear comfortable shoes for the afternoon guided tour, and be ready to practice Spanish with locals under the guidance of your tutor. We’ll provide all training materials and a detailed schedule to ensure you’re set for success.
11. How big will the groups be?
Our group classes are kept small, typically 2–6 participants, to ensure personalized attention and ample opportunities to practice Spanish. This size fosters a supportive, interactive environment where you can engage with your tutor and peers. For an even more tailored experience, we offer private classes (see below). During guided tours, groups may be slightly larger but are always accompanied by expert guides to maintain safety and engagement.
12. What’s the difference between a group class and a private class?
Group Class: Held in small groups of 2-6 learners, group classes offer a collaborative, social learning experience. You’ll benefit from peer interaction, shared cultural tours, and a dynamic classroom atmosphere in settings like cafés or rooftop gardens. Group classes are ideal for those who enjoy learning with others while still receiving personalized feedback.
Private Class: Designed for individuals or couples, private classes provide one-on-one instruction tailored to your specific goals, pace, and language level. You’ll have the tutor’s full attention during classroom sessions and guided tours, allowing for deeper customization (e.g., focusing on professional or ecclesiastical vocabulary). Private classes are perfect for those seeking an intensive, highly personalized immersion.
Both options include pre-travel Zoom classes, upscale accommodations in Roma and Condesa, guided tours, and all training materials. Contact us to choose the best fit for your needs!
